FIRST IMPRESSION: When
our screw package arrived we thought "This can't possibly have
ALL the screws in it, look how small the box is!". Man were we
were wrong! This pocket screw package had EVERY screw in it for our
XXX-T and then some.
Every kit comes labeled with a picture of the vehicle it is meant for.
This is great as we have a kit for our XXX-T and a kit for our T-Maxx.
It helps keep things straight in a sometimes messy toolbox. This is
a small but surprisingly nice feature.
QUALITY/ PERFORMANCE:
The quality of the screws is excellent. Every screw head fit our wrenches
perfectly and the threads were beautifully cut. Socket head screws had
the nice knurled heads for easy thread starting by hand. No complaints
to be had.
The performance of the screws can only be told over time however with
construction of A2-70 & A4-80 Stainless Steel, it can be nothing
but good. Everyone hates a stripped screw head and these little charmers
should eliminate that (or keep it from happening for a very long time).
EVERY screw is an allen head design. No cheap phillips heads that are
doomed to strip.
Another thing to remember is stainless will not corrode. Gotta love
that!
Extra extra bonus: These kits are so small, you can put them
in your pocket and carry extra screws or whatever right to the track
or your favorite bashing spot.
FIT / FINISH / APPEARANCE:
Every screw fit perfectly into its respective spot. The countersunk
screw heads are exceptional and do their job by not sticking out!
We really liked how each of the screws seemed to have a nice deep hole
for our wrench to engage. This will certainly help keep the stripping/wear
factor down to a minimum especially when compared to some of the more
shallow screws that seem to come with most car and truck kits.
The stainless screws look AWESOME in our XXX-T. They do a wonderful
job of giving a little sparkle to an otherwise bland (graphite) looking
truck. The screws have a beautiful finish that looks almost like chrome!
COST / VALUE: Suggested retail is less
than $20! Did we mention that you get every screw under the sun for
your vehicle AND RC SCREWZ also includes a couple of short arm allen
wrenches AND a killer decal sheet to trick out your pony. This is some
of the best money we have spent since getting into this terribly expensive
hobby.
It is a very complete kit with every screw, wheel nut and pinion set
screw imaginable. We were truly shocked at the level of completeness.
EVERY screw, nut, setscrew and washer is in there!
THE VERDICT: This is a great screw kit!
While Stainless Steel hardware is not known for being the best in durability,
they have worked GREAT on our light weight XXX-T. If we were using these
on a heavier and faster truck, they might not perform as well. 12.9
black oxide is probably a better choice for heavier / faster monster
trucks but for our XXX-T, these are perfect!
We were only able to find one really "bad" thing
about the RCscrews....our magnetized drivers do not work with them.
Is this worth deducting a rating "star"? PLEASE!!!! In our
opinion it is a minor drawback to stainless and to us, it means little
to nothing. A great score for a great screw kit.
