I really think it was something wrong with the motor. But I don't know, never had problems with any of my electric motors before. I had the maxximum motor before, and no problems. The 3.0 held up great tho, even tho I only got to drive 10-15 minutes. After further inspection it definitely overheated. Looks like the actual windings came loose from the barrel and melted to the rotor. Uh guess I have learned something about 6s setups.

Holy bat spit! that thing looks thrashed! you must have been running some ridiculous temperatures. I honestly cant believe that I didn't do the same thing to my little castle 1512. I cant wait to see this thing burst into flames and go back to 1985!

Yeah, I was so stoked I forgot to check temperature. The body was not properly vented and maybe geared a bit high. It sucks only getting 10 min out of the motor, but had I laying around for 2 years. Still surprised it only lasted so little. Oh well, I now have a sensored hobbywing 2250 kv motor in there. Cut som airholes in the body. And try to find some fans to install and stuff.

yeah if you're doing serious speed runs then you are going to need a serious temp gun. I use my cheapo duratrax infrared but i know it can be off by +/- 10-15 degrees. also if you are serious about some real speed then its time to go 2wd; pull your front drive shafts and diff and lock your cd with something like JB weld or some other similar epoxy. there is a thread on savage-central about a 100+mph savage flux which might be worth a look if memory serves it's called project centurion and its by a gentleman named LLcoolSkillet. *spoiler alert*: there is some footage of a 85mph crash thats pretty awesome!

That's assume serious damage to the motor. I wonder how hot it really got.

what kv was the motor? I wouldn't run 6s in anything over 2000kv just gets too hot to quickly.
