i have a revo 3.3 thats currently tore down and a 2wd stampede whith very extensive mods both need some tlc so my debate is do i set one of them up for a brushless class or purchas a truggy to convert or a slash 4x4 .... if i use the pede it will be converted to a slash or rustler but i like bashing the pede so much id hate too change it

The 2wd short course class is the best to start in racing, as it is easy to drive on a variety of track styles, forgiving on crashes because the trucks are so tough and yet have low parts count and less expensive electronics to replace or service. The spec. class (RTR outta' the box rules) is my favorite, but they are getting harder to find. PS. It wouldn't be too hard to convert your modded Pede' into a slash wink, wink. My .02

Totally agree with Revo , why would you dish out the &&on a new platform when you're not sure if racing is going to get you hooked.

Convert your pede to a slash if possible .
I'd start with a spec / sportsman class , if none of the above than the obvious 10th scale mod would probably be the best option .
The thing is ( at least in my track ) there are far more competitive racers in pretty much all the 4wd classes rather than 2wd.
Start simple and carry on , go around your travk and getplenty of practice .
Most tracks will let you practice on off days for a fee .
Talk with the local racers to see what their setup is like .
Perhaps most importantly have fun , if all you want is winning you might be disappointed the first few times out

Ill third that. Start in a 2wd spec SC class. If you decide you like it then move into either blinky or mod (depending on your track and what it has ect, blinky is 17.5t brushless, kind of a step between spec and mod)

If you decide you really like racing, then start purchasing rigs for classes. And do research on what rigs to buy, see what the fast guys are driving. (in any 2wd most will probably have losi's just to forewarn you, except for spec 2wd sc)
    Drive rc, do good

contrary to popular belief, nitro is just as fun as electric

I converted my Stampede to a Slash and it was as expensive as buying a nice used Slash roller. I would suggest finding a nice used Slash roller and go that rout.
