Default Gh Slash 4x4 Motor Mount gap

I recently purchased the GH slash 4x4 motor mount as opposed to another popular brand. After running the mount a couple times I realized there is a gap left behind the motor mount and motor plate. This allows debri to enter and damage the pinion and spur!

You 1/10th scalers worry to much about covering the gear up! Have you never seen the 1/8th buggies and truggies, gears wide open!

We know about the gap, we've looked into the gap between the cover and motor mount. It's about a 3mm gap. The only thing that will get in is sand.
With sand, it doesn't matter how small the gap is, it will get in to about any where.

We run with lots of little rocks as well. Wasn't worried about the sand. I'll be switching to the Kingzhead mount. I stay with the plastic spurs so that it's less to carry around since I carry all my parts and my kids trucks parts in my bag.
