    Default maxx shock options

Im building a heavyweight e-maxx monster and need some shocks, My integy MSR8s did the trick for a while but i can't find shock shafts and as heavy as my truck is they just aren't holding up. I know a lot of people use 1/8 shocks but i can't find any good info. all i can find is people saying one shock is great and the other sucks and the other people saying the opposite so here goes... I'm looking for a durable shock that can work with RPM arms and shock towers so the shock can be no wider than ~24mm. the integy shocks. from eye to eye I'd like to have them over 100mm, and under 113mm. my truck is going to be around the 15lb mark so shocks with stiff springs or the option to buy them would be awesome.... I know there is a million threads and a million shocks, i just don't have time to look, figured it is faster if you guys already knew some opotions, and if you have tried anything out that worked well let me know thanks!

**Here he comes to save the dayyyyyyy**

Opinions will always vary, but I know what works for me- I have RC8B shocks ( ~24.5 x 95.9mm- own a dremel? ) and Ofna Mutilator shocks ( 19.6mm x 94.9mm )- very nice shocks but a little short for you. I would suggest the next best thing which is Ofna Ultra LX2 fronts which are 4 1/16" long ( about 105mm ) and the same width as the RC8s it seems:

If those are a bit chunky for your liking, then maybe the Vorza shocks would be better:

100m long and about 20mm diameter if I'm not mistaken ) based on the 16mm shock body- you'd probably bee looking at 13mm-16mm stuff as th 17mm ones come out at ~25mm once the springs are on.

Losi have some nice options too though, worth looking at the 8T front shocks which are 110mm long by about 25mm, and they have nice 4mm shafts:

The 8b rear shocks are the same length as the 8T fronts which is handy, but think about spring weights- easier to find if you go buy the manufacturers part numbers ( handy hint ).

    ------

If you are feeling fairly rich and want the best with no hassle of searching:

    Feeling even richer?

couple sets of them and maybe the dual rate spring set too, that would be the optimum setup really.

I'll tell you something though, anything Ofna or Losi will be good, but for a heavy truck you'll be wanting 8 shocks with fairly firm springs too, so this won't be a cheap thing to do now matter what really- I know I had a real time of it trying to pick out shocks and I have more space around my upper a-arms to fit them, so have a good long look on ebay for 'ofna shocks' & 'losi shocks' and don't be afraid to ask the seller for dimensions if they don't list them ( which is one reason I had issues ).

One last thread worth looking at if you haven't seen it yet:

    http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13066

Lots of options mentioned, but some specific details and comparisons are shown so you have an idea of how things will fit and look on the truck ( if you had FLM towers, then you wouldn't have to worry too much about length as even the 130mm truggy rear shocks could be accommodated )....

I was taking a serious look at the vorza shocks but I had major probllems finding dimensions, I think it will be those or the losi shocks for the 4mm shafts. thanks Neil you have helped me once again!

Also, don't rule out some of the no name aluminum shocks that are sold on ebay. I bought a set a year or so ago for temporary solution over my maxx shocks and I beat the crap out of my truck every time I drive it. I have not bent, broken or have any leaks at all. I like the way they land off big jumps as well. I always wanted to figure out how to adapt the shocks off of the Losi XXL onto the maxx but I have not been able to figure out how to keep them from rubbing the suspension arms.
