Yep, turning my TB02 into a rally car. Gonna give it another chance. Nothing fancy, but gonna make it look cool.
So far, I have a brushed silver can motor along with a Dynamite ESC(the one that comes with the ECX rc cars). I am using a Traxxas TQ2 RX/TX and a Traxxas steering servo. Very low budget build as you can see. Just using old electronics I had lying around.
I ordered some rally block tires that I am gonna mount onto some sexy dirty suby wheels. I lifted the suspension to have more ground clearance. The biggest issue I have is that prop shaft getting grinded by rocks. I think I will get a slightly bigger tube and sleeve the thing. The new prop shaft I have is made too short so I only have 2wd.
Pictures will be up soon.

Nice! Have you run it yet?
For some reason this one seems cleaner than your other cars![]()

Nice car! I like the over-tray, people might laugh but that is definitely an important element. We had a race out in some mud and I wound up cutting up a towel and rubber-banding it around my chassis, looked sloppy but it worked![]()

Looks really good nick!
Thanks Matt!!!
I test drove the car today. For a 2wd, I must say it acts pretty well and can even go in rough terrain. That includes light mud.
My buddy did some mudflaps for me. They won't break. They are made very tuff.
The overtray acted pretty good also. Not much debris came in.

Sorry for the long reply![]()
Yea you should probably protect that drive shaft. But I think the best way to protect it is to just leave it as is. If you build a little plastic shroud around the driveshaft it may trap little rocks much like the slash 4x4 does.

Some ppl in the past have converted their tb02 into a rally vehicle. If you want you can cut the ears on the four corners of the tub chassis that will remove the suspension travel limiter.

Where are those ears exacly? I think I know exacly where they are. Are they where the little adjustable grub screws pin into from the A-arms?

Si Senior after that you can install some of the slightly longer Tamiya shocks on there. I believe the ones from the touraeg kit work either that or look in your tb02 box and you will find some longer shock shaft ears in there. They won't add to suspension travel but will raise the ride height a fair amount.

Allright, I will check that out! Thanks for the tips!
I test drove the car again today. Drove harder and in worse conditions. The overtray is awsome. Barely any rocks came in. Only a bit of sand.

Would anyone have an idea for reinforcing my overtray?
It is simply a cut up windshield washer fluid jug tapped together. Now, sand is getting onto the tape and is loosening the bond.
Could I just spray the overtray with some product to make everything good and solid?

Do you have access to a hot glue gun and glue sticks? I'd think CA glue would work, too, it would be a little messier to apply and you'd need a lot.

You could try it, just depends on how much the underbody flexes.
Would it be better to just try to find something different to use as an underbody that is seamless, though? I think a guy around here somehow modified a plastic binder and made it work, not for sure how he attached it to the chassis though. Maybe velcro? Anyway, something like this, pretty cheap and readily available. Just something else to think about![]()

If you are looking for a spray on idea I would look into bed liner in a spray can. It will take more bottoming out abuse than the rubberized stuff will.
You think you know, but you have no idea.
Thanks for the ideas!!!
I am gonna try the spray on bedliner first. Hopefully it works well. Otherwise, back to the drawing table.
