    • Finalized rear bottom plate
    • Fabricated rear link brace from bumper mount to chassis
    • Modified Innovative RC front brace to clear body posts
    • Installed HD output gear in trans
    • Chassis powder coated black and re-assembled

    To-do list:

    • Mount a top brace on top of the bell crank (waiting for FLM chassis braces)
    • Mount battery tray (waiting on FLM chassis braces)
    • Mount receiver box (not sure where to put it yet)
    • Mount ESC
    • Figure out a battery strap setup (KD straps arrived)
    • Install Sway Bar Kit (rear installed)

    Beginning of the build!

Holthus has forced me to do this after watching the two rigs he's put together.

Gonna be a work in progress. Got this roller for a great price. Going to try and get some pieces and parts in here soon. I have a 1520 I want to use but need to make sure it'll push this thing around. Plan on running 6S but will need to see what exactly will fit into the Flux side pods (need to order those actually) Also need to sort out the motor mount since there isn't one in the truck now. I'd really like to get a 5SC body, wheels and tires and front and rear bumpers all mounted up to make it look correct. Brushless 4wd 5SC? Yes please!

Huskers and Josh, please chime in with things you see that I need. I plan on doing a LOT of reading up on this stuff this week. A head start from you guys would help a ton!

Hey Rummy, since you have to do a motor mount anyway, a suggestion I might give you would be to design something to be able to mount the motor in the center of the chassis and put the esc inside the cockpit since you will be running a bigger motor. Taking that bar out where the esc and motor goes will not hurt anything structurally so I would take that out and mount the motor in the center there. Looks like a good starting rig. You going to stay with those shocks or switch over to the big bores? Josh and I are running 2 big bores in the rear and 1 up front. Not sure how those will hold up with the added weight of the truck jumping and normal bashing.

I need to take a look at the motor mounts for these trucks. I'm really clueless when it comes to these things. I have no idea on the shocks either. Sounds like I need to upgrade though huh?

I'll take any of the stuff you are going to upgrade, as it looks like mostly everything there is Savage 25 except the center shafts and chassis!! That stuff may hold up though, but thinking Flux stuff would like a 1520 or 1717 much better

Motor mount really only holds the 2200kv torx motor, unless you modify the mount to fit others. Even then you may have to modify the chassis to get a larger diameter motor in their. I don't know anything about the old savage shocks, but I would almost bet you will want to replace them with something a little stronger as there will be a lot of weight. I would also strip it down to make sure it has the bulletproof diffs and metal internal trans gears. I know you will do this bad boy up right and don't want you to be tearing it up in the first 5 mins

It does not have the bulletproof diffs, I know that. I'll just run it till I nuke these ones. I'm getting a flux trans from Holthus this week, also getting a motor plate and side pods too. He's gonna send me an XL stub so I can mess around with making some type of piece to make them stronger. I need to find some of those HPI 24mm adapters though.

Huskers, I seen you trashed the gear in your flux trans...... I'm thinking about ordering one now since my trans will be out already.

I think I would, since it is already going to be out, its not that expensive of a part.

Thats what I am thinking.. especially since I already have the platform.

And your right, you would think this would be a no brainer for HPI / Losi / Traxxas.

    Let the fun begin!

Here's where I was at last night with the build. Motor clamps are opened up for the 1520. This is a loooong motor though. The more I think about it the more I want to go to a 1717. We'll see.

I brought in some of the 5SC parts to work so I can get some together. Hoping to get the wheels together at least. The hpi 24mm adapters should be here today so it'll be nice to see a roller with the baja wheels to check track width.
