    Default Team Associated RC10T3 upgrades?

I have a Team Associated RC10T3, and am completely new to the RC scene. I'd like to make some upgrades on it, it's all stock with a Tazer 19T ESC in it. where should i start, and what would give me the most bang for my buck? I'm willing to spend some money, but don't know where to start. Thanks guys!

what do u wana do with it?
race? or bash? just mess around infront of your street?

the t3 is more of a racer, i dont think there are too many "hop ups" other then the factory team parts for it

there are probably some better brushed motors you could get for like 40 bucks or so
or you could upgrade to a brushless system for like $140ish, that would get it flyin

investing in good batteries is always good too

Racing, most likely. yeah the T3 isnt much of a basher. i got this several years ago, and promptly managed to break it several times. So i'm gonna try to just get it going fast while maintaining control. i've tried to do some research, and it always comes back to the brushed/brushless question. what are the pros and cons of the 2 systems? I also think im going to need a new transmission, the left axle is sticking pretty badly and i cant get it to work properly...
like i said, i know next to nothing here lol

Dirtfreak is probably right about the hop ups only available from Associated. The T3 is a dated platform, the T4 came out about 5 years ago I believe so hop ups won't be that easy to find.

Good luck and welcome to BYT.

well, in that case, should i be looking to just upgrade by purchasing a new truck altogether? its a stretch, and i like the T3 (i'd keep it too, obviously), but what would you recommend then? Team Associated is the company that i'm somewhat familiar with.

Well gotta decide what exactly your looking for? A stadium truck like the T3 or something different? The T4 is a great racer, not so much of a basher. The HPi firestorm is a good combo of both bashing and racing. You could also look into short course trucks like the Sc10, another great racer.

I like the T3, and i think i'm looking for more speed and control than bashing. I like how my T3 performs with the new off-road tires i got for it, but think i will be spending most of my time on the track. I like the 1/10 size, too.

if you want to keep it i would just get some stock back up a arms and a few other parts incase you break

however if your gonna need a new tranny and axle then you probably just wana get a new truck all together instead of restoring the t3
if you want a newer truck to race with there are tons of options

you could get into the short course trucks

if you like associated there is the sc10, which is basically a t4 with a lengthened chassis and a few other mods,
and its got a brushed motor for spec racing so your all set if you wana compete

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXXKT6**&P=ML

this truck is a decent price and all you need is a battery and charger.
and on towerhobbies you can get $20 off of $149 or more
which means u can get it for $200 even
plus shipping, and if you become a member of towerhobbies u can get free shipping on orders over 149 i think...
membership is $9.99 anually, basically the cost of what shipping would be anyways lol
and if your a member you get better discounts emailed to you

if you really wana top if off you should get a 2s 5000mah lipo and a lipo charger
that way you can get some looong 30 minute run times
you would need a lvc (low voltage cutoff) for the esc (lipo batteries are not allowed to drop below a certain voltage)
check your track rules for lipo regulations though)

i'll definitely look into that then. so the main difference between a normal stadium truck and a short course is the chasis design, then? from what i've seen, most SC are on-road, smaller wheels ect. true?

yea, for the most part and of course the body. They also allow bumping in SC racing I believe; don't quote me on that though.

Short course is usually run on a dirt track and occasionally a parking lot. They work well in both environments. Jjust keep in mind that SC trucks and stadium trucks are run in different [racing] classes.

SC chassis is basically the same, just slightly lengthened
and yea like t3chnique said the body goes over the wheels
    ohh and bigger bumpers
other then that there pretty much the same exact thing

and even though its a "racing" truck, i know my T3 has been able to take a bit of a beating. how do the SC shore up in that category? if bumping is allowed, i guess they are able to stand up to a bit...
and from the stock SC10, i'd be able to get hop-ups easier, yes?

thanks i know i have alot of questions lol

since the body goes over the wheels bumping isnt too harsh when racing

but yes, RPM has a arms, light pods, skids
and stock replacement should be very plentifull

rpm parts for it... (they have a lifetime warranty)
ive got a buddy with a t4 and the thing he breaks the most is a arms, but he just got some rpm and hes been good for quite a while now.

If it isnt a factory team t3 then upgrade to bearings in the transmission and front wheels...will make everything much smoother. I ran my t3 up against the t4 guys until November of last year.
