From the factory there is not really much that needs to be upgraded until you start breaking parts. I personally would buy a new pipe if its got that plastic one on it. The HPI polished two chamber SS pipe is decent for the price you can find them for.

The only real musts are swapping to a buggy style linkage for the throttle/brake. And a good fail safe unit. That is if your radio gear doesn't have one built in.

AS Beeech stated, there is not much to uprade at first, Savages are tough trucks. The things I would upgrade as soon as money allowed would be a good 5 cell reciever pack, better pipe and better radio gear. After that, just pgrade when you break parts. The pipe and radio are nice to have, the 5 cell reciever pack is a must.
Good decisions come from experience. Unfortunately, experience comes from making a lot of bad decisions.
