Best thing to do is buy a FOC (forward only conversion). Yes, you will loose reverse with that but you'll also loose several headachs that can come wi keeping the reverse in.

Yep common problem with the Maxx, you'll see a lot of guys running the FOC. Cheapest and the one I recommend is the Traxxas FOC. It's around 10 bucks or so.

    Smile Re: t-maxx tranny

I have the 4808 T-Maxx with the Forward only transmission and haven't had a lick of trouble with the trans. I would agree that the forward only conversion is the best way to go.

Everything should be in the conversion kit.

The original .15 Maxx needs a lot of help in the durability department. Best thing to do is when things break, upgrade as needed.
The driveline (sliders) will go fairly quickly; I'd upgrade to 3.3 sliders and 3.3 axle carriers (new type with steel ring to prevent pillow balls from popping out)
    For the centers, MIP cvd's.

There are tons of upgrades needed if your a hardcore basher. I'd do a search on the Maxx and you'll find TONS of threads with info.

Hmm, since it is'nt a reverse issue anymore then it could be a number of things.
What exactly is the tranny doing? Did everything look good on the inside? Is your slipper tight? Is the spur gear moving? Check you center shafts and make sure the set screws are all in place and tight.
Gotta give us a bit more info to be able to pinpoint the problem without actually being there to look at it.

the spur gear moves and so do the drive shafts when i move it by hand. when i put it on the ground and drive it tries to go but it slips in the tranny or something. everything looks good but i dont really know what im looking at.

this is random but theres a really small hex screw on the side of the driveshaft real close to the transmission you want to make sure that it is tight

    ill have pics up later

You should have 2 round plates on the spur gear, 1 on each side. The front side of the spur should have a spring, then a nut. Tighten down the nut to make the slipper tighter.
