Default EZ Start on savage x motor?

Hey guys, one of my customers wants to switch out the rotostart to an ez start. Will this correctly fit to the back plate of a savage x 4.6 motor? He dosen't wanna rip it all apart and find out it dosen't work. I know the 1 way bearing is that same so as long as the bolt patterns are the same it should fit, right?
    Thanks!

err no it should not fit without something custom... the backplate is bigger on the 4.6 bigger engine=bigger back plate
why does he want the sleezey start? its a pain in the arse

if you have one laying around that he can try to bolt on you can do that, but dont tell him to order one. you can take apart and put your truck back together for free, but ordering parts cost money. the tank will also prob be in the way.

Plus you need a way to mount the plug that hooks up into the EZ-Start.

there's no way it will fit on the 4.6 engine. the EZ start is for small block engine's like the TRX engine's. and also the EZ start motor will be stuck between the engine and tank.
the only way it will work is if you put a small block engine in it and do a mid tank conversion.
and IMO that realy not worth it...the roto start is awsome josh tell your friend he's out of his mind

In theory you could line EZ start up on the backplate and tap hole and threads in the backplate, but ditto' on not being worth it. Besides then the manifold and tank will both hit on it.

Completeyl possible and totally nice. I too used to run around with the Rotostart which is allright. But let me tell you I do not regret going with the EZ start.

Three links to show you how it looks, same content but one is out of sync flash and the other is Quicktime (synced but larger) and also a youtube link.

Not a big problem to convert, took about an hour from start to finish. The one way bearing sticks out too much so one has to sink it deeper into the gear in shich it's situated. Also lowering the tube in which it sits, about 2,5 and 1,5 mm respectively. Then made a adapter back plate out of 1,5mm lexan.

Will get back when I've made the instructions. By the way the manifold is not a problem at all.

I did it for two reasons. To get rid of the shaft and to see if it was possible. I had seen lots of questions regarding the plausibility of said splicing of R/C genes so I had to go to the lab.

After having done it I feel it was well worth it, less cumbersome equipment to carry along.
I've been running it like this all summer without any problems.
