My son is old enough now that he is showing an interest in RC cars and I can justify building him something just for him. This is a win-win situation. Win #1 - he's not destroying my expensive RC cars/trucks. Win #2 - he has his own RC vehicle, which gives him some ownership and hopefully adds to the RC experience for him.

As it is winter here in Wisconsin, I opted to go for a smaller scale car and originally de-tuned Project Rocketship for his use. Something about a 50+ mph RC car blasting off our walls and furniture seemed like a bad idea. I quickly realized that giving him his own car would be better, and we could have fun racing around the house together!

I checked E-bay and found a few Mini-T rollers but nothing that didn't look extremely beat. Then I remembered my good friend bought one the same time as I did (shortly after they first came out). I asked if he still had it and if so, would ...

    HoBao Hyper 10SC Project Truck

Running a medium sized web site like BYT can sometimes be a thankless job. You spend countless hours of your free time fixing problems, upgrading, adding new stuff etc. Once in a while, you get a few troublemakers, and some silly questions like “how do I login?”. **sigh** But overall, it is a very rewarding endeavor. There are lots of great, helpful and knowledgeable people that really make BYT the exceptional community it is. Once in a while, I get a big surprise and the receipt of a HoBao Hyper 10SC was nothing short of shocking.

A group of loyal BYT members got together and bought BYT a brand new Hyper! It’s days like that where I am reminded how lucky I am to be part of such a caring and thoughtful group of individuals. Please accept my sincere, “thank you” to everyone who came together to give BYT this uncalled for and much appreciated gift.

I have been running BYT for close to 10 years now, and we have done a lot of good things to help people and help grow the RC hobby. This little project might be the coolest and the best thing we have ever done. When I say "we", I mean Kevin Van (owner of Socal Crew Store) and NickRummy (owner of RummyRC). Both are long time members here and spend a lot of their free time helping me run the site and keep order. Onto what they did.....

Yes, we know. The idea of stuffing a brushless motor in an E-Maxx has been around for a long time and done many times and many ways. The simple fact is that BYT has never done it. And now with the Castle Monster Combo and so many other killer E-Maxx parts on the market, we feel this is the perfect time to whip one of these missiles up from scratch.

One of the hottest things to hit the RC world in a long time is the HPI 5B. Why you may ask? Large scale stuff has been around for a long time so what’s the big deal? Well, the best suggestion I have is to check one out in person. HPI created something special with the 5B and then took it up a notch with the 5B SS kit. ...

Axial Racing set the RC Crawling world on fire with the release of their AX-10. Keeping true to the spirit of the typical RC Crawling fanatic, the kits were quickly modified from their stock form into better and more agile crawling units. The AX-10 kit also provided custom crawler builders with additional axle and transmission options for their personal creations.

As you may already know, this project has taken the longest to complete of any we have ever done. Why? Is it terribly complex? No. Was it incredibly expensive? Not really. The never ending project took forever as we have been battling differential troubles. Numerous combinations of “better” parts were tried and we spent WAY too much money on differential upgrades that did not work.

The REVO has been out for some time now and it has even won a few awards from the magazines for its design and overall performance. We felt that with the sea of Savage's and Maxx's all around us, it was time to try something new. The Revo is "new" in its design and we thought it would be fun to see if indeed it could be made into a bash worthy unit.

The Associated RC18T is one of the latest entries into the 1/18th scale mini-truck market. There is no doubt that AE did their homework with this little tyke however as with any truck, there is room for improvement. Project Full Speed Ahead is all about toughening up the RC18T and making it a more reliable bashing machine.

We hope you enjoy "Project Rock Ripper". We started this project as rock crawling newbies and still have a lot to learn. Throughout the project pages, you will see what we did with our truck and we will also try to list some alternatives to get the job done. ...

We know that everyone can't afford $2000 in parts to hop-up their truck. Project JUMPMAXX is our attempt at taking a basic T-Maxx and making it jumpworthy on a budget of less than $400. We will break it down piece by piece so even if you don't have that many smacks burning a hole in your wallet, you can select what parts you do want to invest in and in what order.

The XXX-T was our first electric stadium truck and has really shown us what an electric truck is capable of. While they are not as powerful (or noisy) as a nitro powered truck, they are extremely lightweight and can carve up a dirt track like Dad carves the turkey at Thanksgiving. It is a welcome addition to our fleet of RC vehicles.
